City of lanterns. Disneyland of Vietnam.

A place that’s not quite real, but still full of so many things to love you just don’t really care. Also Cao Lầu.

What do?

1. Coffee at Faifo

Great coffee, rooftop lanterns and viewz for days across the Old Town. Note: to enjoy the viewz you will need to push past the hordes of Instagrammers posing with the viewz.

2. Hoi An Night Market

Lights up every night from 6pm. Eat squid on a stick, try coconut candy, buy your name on a grain of rice for 30k VND (~$1.80). I did none of these things, I just took photos of lanterns.

3. Eat Cao lầu

Noodles made from rice soaked in lye water, which is made by leaching the ashes of plants from the nearby Cham Islands. Found only in Hoi An. Fancy AF.
